F.A.Q.

Some quick answers to some quick questions…

How many people can be seated in the Kent Barn?

120 people during the day and up to 160 people at night.

Can I get married in St Mildred's Church if I am not associated with the Parish and I don't have a connection with the area?

Yes you can. You will need to speak directly with the Reverend but it is definitely possible.  You can also have a Catholic ceremony in St Mildred’s Church, when the ceremony is shared with the Rev.

Can we get a late licence?

Yes, in some circumstances this can be arranged.

Can we decorate the barns and gardens?

Yes.

Can we bring in our own wine and champagne and pay corkage?

Yes.

Is the venue accessible in a wheel chair?

Yes. Most of the venue is on ground level and there are no large steps. The ground is made up of gravel and lawn or concrete and stone.

How much car park space is there?

There’s ample parking: Space for around 50 cars on in the gravel Oast House and Barn Yard, plus overspill for hundreds more in the adjacent field.

Can we come back the next day to remove the decorations and collect all our things?

Yes. You can come back next morning to collect everything (unless we have another events taking place).

Can we use our own suppliers, apart from the approved caterers?

Yes, as long as they have relevant insurance and up-to-date hygiene certificates.

Is there power on Juliana's island for a microphone for the speeches, music etc?

Yes, there is power on the Juliana’s Island.

Is there outside seating for guests during the reception and evening, especially the older guests?

Yes, there are tables and chairs and benches in Barn Yard, as well as chairs and benches in the gardens.

Can we have fireworks?

Unfortunately fireworks are not allowed, but you are welcome to bring hand-held sparklers.  (The farm is home to horses and other animals which can be dangerously alarmed by fireworks).

Are the barns heated?

Yes, both barns have heating, including a cosy wood burning stove in the Long Barn.  There are also outdoor stoves (patio heaters) available.

Does it matter that the bar is separate to the dance floor?

No, this works very well and helps make everybody happy – as it means that there are two lovely indoor spaces, each with a slightly different vibe.

For those wanting to go wild on the dancefloor, the Kent Barn is an amazing space, while the smaller Long Barn – which houses the bar and wood burning stove – offers a slightly more relaxed atmosphere, perfect for guests to take a break, sit and talk in a cozy atmosphere.  The Long Barn offers somewhere for arriving guests to meet and to say their goodbyes at the end of the night and is also great for the little ones.

In any case, we offer table service within the Kent Barn so guests don’t need to move!

Is there a private area for the bride and groom to relax?

Yes, the Showman’s Wagon is perfect – It sits within the barnyard and can be reserved for the Bride and Groom only.  Additional footwear or clothing can be stored in the Showmans wagon, as well as anything valuable.

Can you help arrange taxis?
